I dont know what the difference in price is between getting a new 2.26 or an old 2.8. IMO, the older 8 core suffices completely if you know what you're doing If you are a monster convolution reverb user and want to insert like 20 RTAS TL Spaces then you might want to consider the newer mac if you want to run other RTAS plugs along side. However, I must stress that if I ever need more plugs (RTAS) than what my older 8 core can deliver perhaps I should start looking for another profession. I did a test where I could roughly insert x2.5 the amount of RTAS as I could on the older 8 core. My Nehalem 8 Core, I use for my LE system. And if I do, I run some RTAS along with it. My older 8 core harpertown, I use with my HD system. I would appreciated it if you had the time.

If the difference between the newer 8 core and older 8 core with Pro Tools is not that much for my needs, this would be helpful infomation to me.

The reason is I am considering buying an older 8 core if it can do what I need it to do, as this would save me a few bucks. Are you able to use the same Pro Tools systems (HD, or LE) with all three MAc's for your tests? Can you give me an idea of how many RATS plugins you are able to use in a workable session in each MAC (4 core, 8 core's)? I was wondering if you ould be willing to give me a more accurate accessment of your Mac's.
